A Message To The Men I Know

Going through a divorce and other life challenges, I was keeping to myself over recent months. Not to isolate but rather to heal. I am slowly coming out of this phase and have rekindled friendships and met old acquaintances. To my big surprise – virtually everyone is going through huge upheavals in their lives. From redundancy to losing their business, from divorce to health problems – not a single one of the people I know has gotten away without new trauma hammering them around every corner.

Yet, we shut up about it— especially those of us afflicted by a Y chromosome. We build walls. We buckle down and try harder—nose to the grindstone. You are a man; you can do it!

God forbid someone might find out about your shame and guilt. That you consider yourself the biggest failure you can imagine. No one must ever know about the tears of anger and sadness you hide in the darkness when no one is watching.

I want you to know

I want you to know that I’m here for you, and I care about you deeply. And I am not the only one. I understand things seem bleak right now, but remember, you are not alone. Many have felt this way and emerged stronger and wiser.

Your life holds value and purpose, even if it doesn’t feel like it at the moment. You are loved, needed, and making a difference in the world, even in small ways.

It may be hard to see right now, but there is hope for a better tomorrow. I’ll be here to support you every step of the way. Let’s take it one day at a time and work together to find a way forward.

You are not alone, and you are not a burden. You are unique and precious, and your life matters.

Keep going, even when it feels impossible. You can do this.

Always remember, ‘This too shall pass.’

Does it sound corny? Maybe! Could I have done with hearing this message when I felt alone in my dark nights of the soul? Hell, yeah!

So, please copy and paste, or just send a link to this article to the men around you. You might look at someone and think that he has got his shit together. Rest assured – that’s likely a facade. Too many men are suffering. Again, like in previous times, I thought I was the only one dealing with crap. Yeah, right.
Be the human who is willing to start a discussion that matters.

Look after yourself and live with intention!
