A Sensory Perception and Emotion Management Strategist, Korte weaves her curiosity about emotional awareness with her decades of experience in the world of accounting and systems implementation—the result: her latest book, Yucky Yummy Savory Sweet.

A significant emotional event created the perfect storm for Kim to begin questioning, “How do I keep this from happening to me again?” Her search resulted in an increased awareness of how she felt, and that awareness enabled her to question her feelings.

Her conclusion: Feelings are not facts but essentially the result of the best guess by our brain based on our perceptions and previous experiences. Mixed with her love of food, Korte created a new process of refining our emotions as if we were creating a fine-dining experience for ourselves, rather than relying on ages-old comfort food (emotions) that might not necessarily be ideal for who we’ve become or who we want to be.

The author of The Perfect Heart: Creating & Maintaining Love Life Balance,

Yucky Yummy Savory Sweet Understanding the flavours of emotions is her second book.

Korte applies her discoveries to strategic coaching and consulting for individuals, teams, and families.

She resides in Northern California with her husband, Andrew, who is also a self-proclaimed foodie, and their two fur babies, Finnegan McScruff and Fiona. For more information, see, www.kimkorte.com

3 Top Tips

1. Practice connecting to your feelings by noticing flavors in foods, how you feel about what you are eating, and noticing sensations in your body.

2. Emotions are a prediction by the brain and can be wrong. Questioning your physical condition, mood, and how you feel about that person(s) or situation can impact the emotional palate and the ingredients you receive.

3. Develop self-awareness by seeking out the current ingredients for the “Emotion Recipes” that are important for you to feel and not feel—the emotions you want to feel more and less of.

Look after yourself and live with intention!
